Retention, Repatriation and Immigration Program
The Retention, Repatriation and Immigration Program is intended to help translation businesses increase their human resources. The program as two components: work experience for translation students and employment for qualified translators.
Highlights
This program provides financial assistance to translation agencies and self-employed translators:
• to offer practical work experience to students enrolled in translation programs.
• to hire recent graduates.
• to repatriate qualified workers living outside the province.
• to attract immigrants who are qualified translators.
Part 1 - Work Term Placement
Through this program, second and third year students may be hired for a maximum of
16 weeks per year. The program offers a reimbursement incentive of up to $7 per hour with a minimum contribution of $5 per hour from the applicant.
Part 2 – Placement of New Graduates, Repatriates and Immigrants
The program offers a two-year non-repayable contribution calculated as follows:
• 1st year: 75% of $30,000, to a maximum total of $22,500
• 2nd year: 50% of $35,000, to a maximum total of $17,500
The client may offer a higher salary, but the maximum contribution will remain same as above.
Eligible Applicants
• Private translation agencies.
• Self-employed translators.
• Investors who wish to establish a translation agency in New Brunswick.
Program Criteria
• Agencies applying must be located in New Brunswick.
• Investors outside of New Brunswick must establish a business office in
New Brunswick.
• Self-employed translators must have the ressources to accommodate and monitor the development of the employee.
Maximum Contribution
The maximum contribution to a client for the duration of the program is $99,999.
Program delivery
The Placement and Repatriation Coordinator, Mrs. Sylvie Ward, will be responsible for coordinating the program.
